Big News is Here

There are some big changes to take notice of.

From Mike Brandt (see the Newsletter)

To the Most Amazing Community of Gamers and Hobbyists:

Laurie and I are pleased to announce that, as I am now working for Games Workshop as Head of Global Events & Customer Technology, ownership of the NOVA Open has been transferred to a group of former volunteers and others, who intend to operate the company just as it has been for the past 12 years. Although Laurie, the chief operating officer of the NOVA Open since 2011, will retire this month from running the company, she will continue serving as President of the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation (NOCF), which has done so much for Doctors Without Borders, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, and other worthy charities since 2013.

It is important for you to know that we fully support the new owners as they look forward to hosting you at the 2022 convention. We know they will keep you informed in the monthly newsletters and across social media platforms. We, of course, appreciate your continued loyalty to the NOVA Open Tabletop Wargaming Convention and NOCF ~ which just raised $102,000 in the 2021 summer raffles due to the generosity of this wonderful community!

On a personal note, please know how much we've appreciated the years spent with all of you building the NOVA Open as an event, a community, and a mission aimed at bettering the lives of others. Our decision to transition the convention (rather than end it) derived from our love of what NOVA Open ultimately represents ~ the people who make it happen.

Laurie and I wanted to be the first to tell you about the incoming team, to let you know how much you mean to us, and to share our excitement as we look forward to seeing everyone again in Crystal City next year. Whether it's over a cup of coffee in the lobby or a "Little Beer" in the Foundation Lounge, we are happily anticipating the convention we all helped build as it enters its next phase.

Best Regards,

Mike Brandt
